    Würzburg, 18th March 2019 – DuMont and Koenig & Bauer are set to continue a successful partnership which has already lasted for more than 180 years. Halle-based subsidiary MZ Druckereigesellschaft mbH is purchasing a further Commander CL from Koenig & Bauer. It is a little over two years ago that the company’s last investment, likewise a Commander CL, came on stream. “Our current press offers all the essential prerequisites for success: A high level of automation, reliability, exceptional flexibility and fast makeready. It was clear that we would continue along the chosen road with Koenig & Bauer at our side,” says MZ managing director Bernd Preuße. The new Commander CL will enter production in the fourth quarter of 2019. Since the initial market launch just a few years ago, Koenig & Bauer has now sold 27 presses of this type to users in Germany, France, China and the USA, and it is currently the most frequently ordered newspaper press. The company grew revenue by 5.5 percent to EUR 216.3 million in the period under review, while operating profit (EBIT) of EUR 17.4 million remained unchanged from the previous year.     04.03.2019 – No more coloured dots in the recycled paper: Just because the curing radiation is being generated by energy-saving LED, UV printing inks are less environmentally friendly than the marketing suggests. They leave coloured dots in the newly made paper and thus can severely damage the recycling process – because they can hardly be deinked. This is about to change: At the INGEDE Symposium in Munich, Thomas Glaser (Siegwerk) and Peter Hengesbach (Stora Enso) presented exten-sive investigations into a new printing ink. With a combined turnover of EUR 293 million and order intake of EUR 327 million, the company has solidified its leading market position in web offset. The latest major orders at the turn of the year to the value of EUR 50 million, raised the order backlog to EUR 200 million in the project business.
